Chief Delegate Weekly Meeting 4

Chief Delegate Weekly Meeting 4

LONDON (Bywire News) – Tensions remain high in the fourth meeting between the third group of chief delegates. Chris Barnes took the opportunity to apologise to Luca for comments made during an interview with Bywire. Talking about his frustrations with the process, Chris had made a number of disparaging comments about Luca’s approach to consensus building.

“You bring a ton of value to this and the last thing I want to do is create a relationship where this isn’t fun for you,” he says. “Regardless of any truth I may or may not have said it’s uncool to talk about you in a disparaging manner when you’re not there to defend yourself.”

The apology was accepted, but the incident reflects tensions about the progress, or lack of it, that Eden has been making. Time is ticking and key issues remain unresolved. Finding solutions is proving to be tough.

Individual updates

  • Hahn: Finalising his pomelo pitch for building the smart contract to reflect the voice of representatives for the BP elections. He was arranging meetings with BPs. There is a BP interview series he is working on for the My Vote EOS. By the end of his term, he wants to have interviewed around 30 BPs.
  • Luca: Work is continuing on his bot to help members through the Eden process. He has published the project on Pomelo. You can check it out here. For Eden, he was on a call with Fractally.
  • Chris: Held the second brainstorming session on Tuesday making more progress towards the new image and feel for Eden. He participated in the fractal event. He also participated in the Fractal events and reposted the pomelo pitch for the anti fragile education cause. It will aim to create a portal with education around fractal democracy. He has started to look at the MSIG.

  • Dan Singjoy: This week has been interrupted by illness, but has been working on the Eden Fractal website to create a better onboarding experience for people. He has also shared a white paper about how Eden Fractal can help governance and participated in the brainstorming session and the fractal fiction event. Using the Eden process to elect writers and editors to make a short story.

Infrastructure costs

Some of the chief delegates had a meeting with the Fractally team about the site. Most of the transfer is done but they are having to test the site. The site is currently up and appears to be working.

Edenia, which is running the tech sphere, has come up with costs for the election. This, they believe, will amount to about $15,000.

Luca suggested the most important task is to hit the date and make sure they don’t end up rushing it in the last few days. Need to make sure the proposals are up for pomelo.

He believes they should be able to hit around a third of the cost of the last election in this round. So, it is possible to hit 15% disbursements. They need to know if the next disbursements which take place in a month will be 5% or 15%. The biggest challenge right now is making sure Pomelo is up and raising as much as they can from this round and then seeing how much is missing.

Account permissions update for genesis.Eden

Transferring the account permissions for the genesis dot.Eden account is proving to be difficult. Dan had planned to do it but he realised his interface didn’t have the functionality to change the authorisation so he’s been working with Chris and Luca to come up with a script for Edenia. They have tried a bunch of solutions. Although they are close to getting it, they haven’t nailed it completely.

Bylaw ratification

Last week Chris, Hahn and Dan were willing to sign – Luca was less keen to ratify today. That hasn’t changed, and he remains the one dissenting voice when the vote is called. It passed with three out of four delegates, which means they now have new bylaws.

Elections

Luca suggested Michael O’Sullivan who has been running the media circle could also host elections. With his media background and, considering the successful series of interviews he has been running, they feel he could be the best option to bring a little spectacle to the next ceremony.

Chris pointed out that the current election lead Domenic has a Pomelo pitch out with Chuck MacDonald called Eden Election which is raising contributions towards the next election. They do not appear to have asked for a go-ahead to do this from the chief delegates, but in the absence of any changes being made, they have pushed ahead with plans to make sure the election can go ahead and that the funds are in place to cover it.

Dan agrees Michael would do a good job of hosting it and suggests exploring this more with Chuck, Domenic and Michael. It could lead to an agreement in which the current election circle organises the election, but Michael takes responsibility for hosting it.
